Charter | An Introduction to the Blog

Posted by

There are so many things we can do with our “free time”. I simply want to dedicate some of mine to helping others learn. I hope to also learn from all of you as we engage in conversation.

A bit about myself first – here’s an excerpt from the About page:

I’m currently a Senior Product Manager at Blizzard Entertainment focused on online community health across our games and apps. All content on this website is my own and does not represent any of the companies I currently or have previously worked for.

Why am I writing a blog?

  • I want to share what I’ve learned over the years from leading teams in various roles in product management, game production, program management, and minor roles in design. In sharing, I hope to
  • Through my content, I want to encourage leadership at all levels, disciplines, and roles on teams – regardless of title.

Chartering a Path

Here’s some clarity around what this blog is aiming to achieve.

  • My aspirational vision is to encourage new leaders to take action and enact change without the need for leadership or management titles.
  • My mission in making progress is to provide guides and best practices in achieving progress as a leader on development teams.
  • I value:
    • Achieving mastery through practice
    • Optimizing for learning over “success”
    • Listening to differing points of view
  • Priority is a singular term so let’s keep this simple:
    • Write and share content to improve engagement and enjoyment over time

The vision above isn’t meant to change, but the mission, values, and priority will shift over time as I learn what information is useful to the readers and what I enjoy writing about.

With that being said. Let’s get started!
